Three Months and Still Growing

Colson is now three months old. He's 22 inches long and 8 lbs 12 oz. We think it's funny, because that's a good size for most babies when they're born. He's catching up quickly though. This week he's started to roll onto both of his sides. Today he almost rolled over onto his belly his head and feet were turned, but he just couldn't get enough momentum to get his belly flipped. I'm pretty sure that within the next week he'll have perfected the art of rolling onto his belly. It's just scary because after he learns to do that most likely he'll be rolling around from place to place. I'm not sure if I'm ready for that yet!

Colson has recently become very aware of his little hands. It's funny, because he'll knock his binky out of his mouth just so he can try to stuff his fingers and hands into his mouth. He's got one hand in there but now he's working on stuffing both in at the same time!

Families Are Forever

A few weeks ago one of our close family friends had their new little baby boy of three months pass away. He was just a little older than Colson. He did die of illness, it was not unexpected. I sat here reading their blog and sobbing, I literally can not remember the last time I have sobbed this hard. I can not even start to imagine what they are going through. One thing is clear to me, these two parents are divine. They have taken this loss with great faith and hope. My prayers are with them as they continue to find peace and comfort.

Tractor Time

Shane is working on the family farm for most likely the next year or so. These wonderfuly warm days have brought on planting time. Shane has been planting sugar beets in a tractor, so we thought this would be the perfect time to give Colson a taste of farming and riding in a tractor.
Colson loves being in the tractor. He figured out that he has a fasination with the big wheels and he gets transfixed on them as they go round and round. Call us dorky parents, but we even busted into a few rounds of "The Wheels on the Tractor Go Round and Round".

Good-Byes!

I have to admit that I have been waiting for this day for sometime now. Yesterday was my last day of student teaching. My experience at the Elementary school where I was at was a good one. I'd be fibbing if I said it was perfect, and those of you who are teachers realize that you will always have crazy days. (Especially when the weather changes!) But I'm going to miss the sixth graders I taught. They were all so sweet yesterday through the entire day they kept trying to persuade me not to go. I Left in the morning to observe a 1st grade classroom, and they informed me that I needed to stay in the sixth grade and that there was no reason why on earth I would want to go and hang out with 1st graders. It was pretty funny. Later on in the afternoon they threw me a surprise going away party. It was really cute. All I have to say is that deep down inside past the pre-teen drama, sixth graders have soft kind hearts.

An Easter At the Park

This Easter was beautiful, a little windy, but beautiful. Church was great. It was the first time we stayed all three hours with our little guy. He did a lot better than I thought he would. We decided that we just wanted to do something with our family, so I made a picnic lunch and we went to the park. Later on in the evening, we went to Shane's parent's house and made an appearence. Our nieces and nephew got a rabbit for Easter. Shane enjoyed getting to pet it. I thought it was really funny to see Shane with a little rabbit.... I guess you just had to be there, or maybe you just have to be me to see the humor in it....

I love Shane's poofy hair in this picture. I don't know why but I think it's sweet!

Sleeping Babe

So we are starting to get into the phase of sleeping through the night finally. Colson is such a good sleeper when he decides he wants to sleep. Last night we fed him and put him to bed. Around 4:30 I woke up in a panic thinking that something was wrong with Colson since he had not woken up. As I ran into check on him there he was just snoring away. I was totally relived and thought that this would be the dawning of a wonderful time! (The picture was taken when I got home this afternoon!)

Jambo From the Bumbo

On friday we hung out with some of our friends who have twin little boys. They are getting so big. It was fun to see them play and "crawl" around. The boys were watching Baby Einstein and we plopped Colson down in front of the TV in a bouncer. As soon as we set him down he was smiling and cooing. He thought it was great. We thought it was really funny, because on the screen it was just little kids dancing around on their tippy toes. Long story short yesterday we went to IF and bought a Baby Einsteins video and a Bumbo chair. Bumbo chairs are made in South Africa. They are the best chair ever if you have kids. At practically any age it sits your baby up straight so they can look around and see what's going on. When Colson starts eating solids we're going to use this to feed him. This is so much better than a high chair, at least when they're small.

Colson loves his Bumbo. They're so great. He's only two months old and he can sit up in it.

We decided that we needed to start early teaching Colson the importance of watching Confrence. Shane gave him a pep talk this morning telling him he was going to get to hear the prophet talk about Christ. Colson was more than enthusiastic breaking out the smiles and giggles!

A Perfect Day for a First Walk

I'm a little late in posting these pics, but two weeks ago the weather was really beautiful here in Blackfoot. Shane and I decided that it would be a perfect time for a "First Walk". Colson loved it!

Baby Blessing

Here's my side of the family eating dinner out at Texas Roadhouse. It was a blast!

We were so excited that my family got to come out for Colson's baby blessing. My mom, dad and brother Brain drove out from Denver, and then my brother Casey drove down from Rexburg. If that wasn't awesome enough, my sister and I came up with a plan to surprise my entire family and have her fly out from California to see everyone. She bought her ticket flew into Salt Lake and her best friend form high school picked her up and brought her to Idaho for us. It was a great surprise and it was fun to be able to be with my siblings. We were just sorry that Will, Hudson and Annie weren't able to come. We miss you guys! And love you!

It was so windy and cold on the day Colson got blessed. It was nuts. As soon as we got home, we all got into comfy clothes, so alas we have no dressy family pictures with Colson. We did snap a few of him before we got him out of his little outfit. I'm not one to bless boys in all white I think they look funny. Shane and I went for the little tweed pants and argyle sweater vest instead!

Since Colson is now over two months old, all the nieces and nephews were allowed to hold him for the first time. They were all very excited.

This is me, my sister Jessica and her best friend from high school Sandi. We're in the main part of the funeral home where we live. We all came to the conclusion that we couldn't paint a mural on the ceiling of a building, unless we were on scaffolding laying on our back. But even then we thought that we would most likely breath in a lot of paint that would fall into our noses. We're just glad that it wasn't us who had to paint the angels on the ceiling.
